ABOUT THE GALLERY
In business since 1990, Ibis Gallery started very modestly in a small stoep room at this address, selling only pottery. It has since expanded both in space and content, now selling paintings, hand crafted woodwork, pottery and vintage oriental carpets. Still a small and intimate gallery which is part of a lovely old house in the historic heart of Montagu, we curate carefully to provide good work at good prices.

The gallery is managed by Carolyn Metcalfe, Hennie Kok and Macushla Falkiner.

Carolyn Metcalfe
Native to Montagu, she moved back in 1990 and shortly after opened a small gallery to sell her handmade earthenware pottery. This transformed and expanded gradually into what is now Ibis Gallery. She remains a potter but also produces artworks in acrylic, watercolour and oil paints.

Hennie Kok
After a long career in IT Hennie fled city life and turned what had been a hobby into a serious wood crafting occupation. He joined Ibis in 2013 where he always has examples of his beautifully designed and superbly crafted furniture on display.

Macushla Falkiner
Originally a nursery school teacher, Macushla had a successful career as food stylist for 20 years before abandoning city life to return to her roots in Montagu. She became involved with the running of Ibis Gallery and, being an avid lover of oriental carpets, it is here that she always has a small collection of well selected vintage carpets on display and for sale.
